Welcome back! We are making some amazing progress. The projected debt free date has moved into June. June 25th, 2021 to be exact! I sometimes feel like I am not moving fast enough to get out of debt soon enough. My original date to have my credit card debt paid off was in July of 2022. Just thinking about that gives me so much motivation based on how far we have come.
It’s time for another snowball payment! The second Citi card is almost paid off. Just one more snowball payment to them and I will not have any business dealings left with Citibank. The Citi card has about $400 left on it until it is paid off. I am challenging myself to side hustle and pay it off before my next paycheck. I paid my minimum to another card so we are current until the end of the month. My plan for this is to sell more online, maybe do some Postmates deliveries, and my wife is also contributing when she can. She sells household items, plants, seeds, and etc. Her contributions are always a welcomed thing.
My wife and I are really in sync now with the grocery budget. We shop together and eat the same meal prep. So we have split the grocery bill every time we shop. Also we got $10 of chicken breast at Costco. So we are trying our best to save.
Finally having a plan to get out of debt feels so amazing. I use to be stuck in a cycle of paying the minimum while still using the credit cards. Checking to see which one has enough balance to cover what I want to buy at the moment.
Now the debt snowball gives me a vision. I can see a day were I don’t have any credit card payments. It will be amazing when all these payments are just mine to keep, invest, or do whatever I want with.
The bright light on the side hustle side this week is Facebook Marketplace. I received several payments from Facebook Marketplace shipping orders. While Facebook Marketplace puts you in front of a different audience than eBay you don’t get paid instantly. On another note until the end of the year they are waving seller fees so that’s awesome for now.
Also I made a couple eBay sales also and paid/prepaid my seller fees. I probably should list more items. Sometimes it gets overwhelming that I am not doing enough to get out of debt.
Ebay and Facebook Marketplace are real fickle sometimes. I should do more research on the best time to list items for sale. Some weeks things won’t get any bidders or buyers and the next week they do it is amazing. Currently I have a closet full of items I need to sell or donate. It is a real untapped market still.
For more transparency my Mom asked me to iron some of her clothes while I was at the there house last weekend and that made like $21. She also filled up my gas tank and my Dad gave me $20 more dollars for gas when were leaving. So that was a nice gift. I used the money to throw at the debt since I already budget money for gas.
For health reasons I think I want to get a membership to Planet Fitness at some point but I think I will use Postmates to pay for it. I really can not wait until I am debt free and can buy a treadmill cash to workout on. In the past I probably would have just financed one but never again!
We are a few weeks from another snowball payment but I am gonna sell as much as possible. The momentum is still strong! Until next time!
